Decent Monitor for the price Dec 01, 2010
By Nicholas J. Mattus Purchased this monitor as an add-on for my work laptop (Lenovo T510) for home use. Very nice picture, after I finished tweaking the settings. I'm using a Display port to HDMI adapter cable from monoprice to plug this monitor into my laptop. Setup was easy with Windows 7, just plug it in. I did have to spend some time tweaking the display settings to get the picture right. Specifically, if you are using this as a PC monitor (not as a TV) you need to go into the setup menu and change it from AV mode to PC mode. This improved the picture quality substantially. Text that seemed blurry became crisp. You should also tweak the brightness and contrast until it looks good, as the factory settings can be ridiculous on these things.
I'm running it in it's native resolution of 1920x1080. Haven't tried the Samsung software, but I may set this up when I have some time. Definitely a great buy at $200 on Amazon.
Only real cons to this product are the tricky touch controls on the front - takes a little getting used to. And the stand is not height adjustable.

Downright nice monitor Jun 02, 2010
By Jonathan Robert Roth Quick Review:
PRO: By far the nicest, cleanest picture I've ever had using a monitor. Amazing color and clarity, plus supports RGB for older monitors, HDMI for a TV/game input, and DVI for a normal computer display.
CON: No buttons. Front touchpanel not friendly to my ogre hands. While you read this review, you'll think I'm an idiot for having trouble turning the thing on and getting it to switch to the right display (yes, I tried the 'power' and 'Source' buttons). But I just might have my comeuppance when you're sitting in front of a darkened monitor that won't display anything. Some fiddling/luck/time got it working and it's been a champ since.
PS: This monitor (at time of review) is listed under 3D monitors on amazon.com. It is not 3D ready for Nvidia's 3D tech, and at 60Hz, the best you'd get is 30fps 3D, if your graphics card even supports that. However, even though I bought this monitor on the off-chance that it was 3D compatible, I'm still keeping it since it's so pretty.

Great monitor by Samsung as usual, but worse software ever Aug 20, 2010
By S. Wong I'm giving this monitor an okay because physically, it's a great piece of work. The colors are great and i use it to play Starcraft 2 and Modern Warfare.
Size is great for a computer monitor and HDMI and CRT connections to computers is flawless.
My only gripe, which is kinda of a big one is that Samsung's monitor software doesn't work.. at least it's completely INCOMPATIBLE with Windows 7. Whenever it is installed on Windows and runs, my computer pretty much restarts itself every bootup. Therefore causing me to not be able to start my computer at all. I had to use system restore and go back to before i installed Samsung's monitor software to fix the problem.
It would have been a great idea if the software works - to be able to control all monitor settings via computer desktop. but oh wellz. I use it like a normal HD monitor. Amazon offered a great price when i got it. Till this day, i have not seen a 1080p 24" monitor with equivalent specs at near the same price point.

Great Monitor With a Few (Minor) Flaws Dec 15, 2011
By Dana Sciandra
"stimulatedboredom"
I recently purchased this monitor when I saw the price drop, which put it within my "sweet spot" for an impulse buy. I already had a 22" Samsung (which is now enjoying its new dual-monitor configuration) and wanted the higher resolution, along with the larger screen. Being a "tech-head," we are prone to constantly wanting bigger, better and newer. :)
The monitor is very attractive, bright and clear and I have no complaints about its performance. The resolution is spot-on and I really didn't have to do much in terms of the settings after running the included MagicTune software that automatically adjusts the settings for optimal performance. Plus, the extra screen real estate dominates your field of vision, allowing you to really feel like you are "inside" of what you are working on and is great for when you are working on websites, surfing, streaming video and the like.
My only complaint is that the base is kind of rubbish. It holds the monitor up fine, but feels loose (too thin) at the point where the monitor meets the neck, therefore a push in either direction can cause it to lean to the left or the right. Thankfully minor jolts (hitting the desk with your knees etc) does not cause it to lean, but still it is a slightly annoying design flaw because adding pressure to either side (i.e. cleaning the monitor) can cause it to tilt. Beyond that, it works great when adjusting it forwards or backwards to achieve the viewing angle that you prefer (I went with simply straight on).
The outer bevels are a rounded glossy black finish, which is attractive, but I would have preferred a more flat screen look. This is a minor and aesthetic complaint, as the price when I purchased it ($209.99) was too good to pass up.
The other great bonus is that this monitor comes equipped to connect to just about any video card (i.e. VGA, DVI & HDMI), making it more universally appealing to those with older and newer systems or graphics cards. As my card (Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT) is DVI only, this was nice, since other monitors I looked at were restricted to only 1 or 2 connections that might require an adapter (and, as a result, some (minor) signal loss).
I would definitely recommend this monitor to anyone looking for an upgrade or larger screen, without having to break the bank (provided the discounted price is still available). This monitor is big, bright and clear...can't ask for much more. Although the monitor is 16:9 @ a resolution 1920 x 1080 (still 1080p HD, of course)...that is also a "sweet spot" for a monitor this size without it being 16:10 @ a higher resolution (and higher price). I would not recommend that resolution on a larger (27") monitor, though.
If it helps, I did a LOT of research before making this purchase and am quite technically proficient, therefore you can benefit from the research and hard work of others who also purchased this monitor! For the price and specs, it is a very safe bet that you will be happy with.
I only give it 4 stars because the base seems to be a pretty major design flaw. It will probably not bother most people, but for me, I prefer that my monitors feel very solid in the base, as it adds to the perception of quality.

Great Monitor Jul 15, 2010
By Marginal Man This is a great monitor. I was pleasantly surprised by the multi-screen software that came with it and installed easily. It allows you to set several different panes on the large screen, drag your open window into the pane and it instantly maximizes within that pane. I can easily have 4 documents up at once and see them all clearly. The only con is that the screen seems to lean down a little when mounted on the stand and its not adjustable, at least as far as I've found.
