1useless and frustrating  Sep 07, 2008 By Deanna
This digital converter occasionaly detects channels, but most of the time it says "no channels." I try over and over to scan for channels without success. Even when it says it finds 12 channels, as soon as I exit the Menu area to watch TV, it says "no channels." I thought it might be my antenna, cables, or location in the house so I switched it with my digital LCD TV (19" Ensignia) in another room. It still couldn't find any channels. Meanwhile my digital TV comes in just fine in the location and with the antenna that this device won't work with.
Find something better.

1no cigar  Feb 12, 2009 By F. C. Miller
Looks neat. Easy to set up.I use it with a cute, three panel and dipole antenna GE unit. Good picture and sound. BUT:
On one channel, every ten to fifteen minutes, it locks up- flashes the same frozen picture 2 or 3 times a second, makes a noise of a quick "duh duh duh duh" continually until it is shut off and restarted. It is consistently wierd on that channel.
As I only get two HD signals, taking one out of the mix is a significant reduction in potential viewing.
The backup Apex unit works well.
I may just have a bad unit GE23333, but my experience is a one hundred per cent do not buy recommendation.
Unless you enjoy keeping the remote close to hand for repeated minor remedial surgery. Not my cup of tea.
Regards

1Will time out and loses signal often  Feb 24, 2009 By M. Ludlow "m2woessn"
I have been so frustrated with this box, we are exchanging it today for another. If it is on for more than a couple of hours the remote will no longer be able to change channels (it times out) and last night was the final straw when it would randomly shut itself off and on.

Very frustrating.

4Works just fine  Feb 16, 2009 By David Michmerhuizen
Hooked this up last night and it's working just fine. I get more channels than I did with my aerial alone, and much better quality, in fact I was very pleasantly surprised in that regard. I do have a powered interior antenna, although not a particularly new or expensive one. The remote has a 'signal' button that brings up a signal strength display bar on screen so you can see how your antenna placement affects a given channel. Really, with these units it's GIGO - if you aren't feeding it good signal you won't get anything the other end.

5GE 23333 Digital to Analog TV Converter Box  Feb 14, 2009 By R. Marshall
Liked product. Easy to install with good user's manual. Do not use recommend auto scan, auto scan only found six stations, manual process resulted in 28.
