Got the Job Done! Sep 25, 2009
By Suzanne C. Henderson

When unit received, put it to work, probably too much according to specs. Performed very well, just jammed once and that was my fault, too thick of a load. I know it takes 10 pages, I would not want to shred 12 pages of my copy paper. I shredded a cd and credit card, worked. I am caught up on my shredding for a while, but still have more to do. I find the recommendations 2 minutes on 4 minutes off, work very well. If you get your stuff to shred in order, the 2 minutes seems like a long time. I do question the manual that no maintenance needed other than wiping off housing w/mild soap and water. Will be calling Honeywell to confirm. Seems as though oil would be needed after a while. When basket is pulled out, power is off. The wheels are a big help. I highly recommend...
UPDATE: January 18, 2010.
About a month ago I noticed the 'automatic' did not stop automatically after shredding. The 'automatic' reverse still shuts off automatically. Talking with Honeywell, I would have to pay for shipping to return item that is still under warranty. I told Honeywell by the time I paid shipping to California from Texas, I could add a little money and have a new one. I did tell Honeywell I would be posting this review. The unit still works except for the above.

Broken in less than a year Jun 19, 2010

Initial function was great! After a number of reviews for all shredders about using as described (no more than the sheets allowed and cleaning the shredder blades to maintain), I was very careful to not exceed the instructed limits and to studiously maintain the unit. Didn't help; when I turned it on today after - a couple of months of non-use - I got nothing, dead as a door nail. This machine is not cheap and I expected to get at least 2 years out of it; but it didn't even make it a year with light usage.

Nice home unit for the price Nov 23, 2009
By Waxingellaesque Fast, ample 12 page capacity, with a good sized, easy to empty bin, CD/credit card shredder on wheels for the home. You get a lot for the price considering its a crosscut shredder! All you need for at home.

works great Feb 21, 2010

this shredder does a great job on shredding. I would have given it 5 starts, but there was one problem- there was this plastic tub inside that kept jamming the pull out drawer and then finally stuck completely. I think it was for catching the shredded cards or cds, but it wouldn't stay in that spot. I wound up cracking the handle trying to open the slide out with the with the plastic tub stuck.
It does shred everything nicely.

Great shredder! Apr 26, 2011

This shredder replaces a broken one that lasted barely over a year. Unlike my old one, this one destroys CD/DVDs quietly without plastic shards all over the place. This one apparently uses two different cutters; the one for the CD/credit cards has wide-spaced cuts for the CD/DVD and narrower cuts for the credit cards. The CD & credit card pieces are captured in a separate removeable plastic cup inside the shredder basket so that it won't mix with the normal paper shreds (makes it nice if you recycle the paper in not having plastic shards mixed with the paper). The second cutter that actually does the paper shredding is located further back of the unit and the paper shreds are caught in the main basket. I really like this shredder as it does a great job on all the items it's designed to destroy. Granted, it is brand new so only time will tell how well it will work after using it a lot, but it definitely outperforms my old cd/credit card crosscut shredder!
