5Great Projector  Aug 30, 2011 By GMusik
I purchased the EX7200 for use in children's church in a fairly small, fluorescent-well-lit classroom. Having a high quality LCD projector opens up worlds of possibilities for education, and I couldn't be happier with this projector. It's also night and day going from the small 15" wide-screen LCD TV I had at my disposal (from the church) to an 86" projection screen (of course, you could go much bigger if you have the room!). There are a multitude of options, including 5 or so "color modes" for different viewing situations, including projecting onto a whiteboard or blackboard! Controls are fairly intuitive. Projector can be shut down and unplugged without having to let the fan run to cool down (though I would recommend letting the projector cool in the open for a couple minutes at least instead of immediately stuffing it in the case).

The USB plug and play is nice, but be warned. The USB connection is a fail for PowerPoints with animation. Slide transitions and even simple rolling text was choppy and jumpy with the USB connection. The VGA cable (supplied) works perfectly, however, and the projection is just as smooth as it is on your computer screen. This projector also allows you to connect multiple video sources simultaneously and switch between them easily.

There is also a tiny blue dot visible on dark backgrounds (esp. black) in the bottom left area of the frame. I'm assuming this is a minor defect with the imaging system in my particular projector. It's just one dot (maybe a single pixel) and not very noticeable. Worth mentioning, but probably not worth the hassle of returning or exchanging.

Don't make the mistake I did and purchase a screen with the wrong aspect ratio. This projector has a native resolution of 1280x800 which is a 16:10 ratio, NOT 16:9. Not sure how I miscalculated that, especially when it even says 16:10 in the description! If you use this with a 16:9 screen, you won't be able to make the projector image fill the screen--it will be "letterboxed" by white screen material on the left and right.

Image adjustment with this projector is fully optical (focus and zoom rings built into the lens). Using the optical zoom allows you to enlarge or reduce the entire frame to fined-adjust screen fit without having to move the projector itself and without loss of resolution.

Last, don't think this projector is going to look just fantastic in a well-lit room. Don't get me wrong, it is very usable with all the lights on, but darker colors especially will be washed out and obviously your contrast won't be the best. Unfortunately, the room I'm in has all the fluorescent lights on one switch, so it's either all or nothing in terms of room lighting. So I simply made a makeshift cover out of some thick cardboard to partially block the lights closest to the projection screen. This makes a huge difference. I'm just saying be prepared to experiment with your setup to get the best balance.

5Exceptional projector at a great price.  May 20, 2011 By John Hauschildt
Over the past four and a half months I've found this projector to be a great asset. It's clear and bright, easy to setup and adjust when needed, and automatically adjusts for keystoning - I'm not sure how it does it, but it works.

It's lightweight and easy to carry around with all needed cables and remote in the provided bag. Viewing images from a USB stick is a breeze, though it's limited to JPEG images and it would be nice to be able to run PowerPoint slides from the USB stick. I use the HDMI cable to connect to my laptop, but there are VGA and RCA type inputs for when others need to connect.

I did have a problem after about four months of regular use - the blue channel was lost completely, turning everything a horrible shade of yellow. One quick call to Epson (they include a priority support number and code for fast access) and they shipped a new model overnight. I then simply put the broken one in the box they'd sent and shipped it back free. This is immensely helpful to someone who uses a projector regularly and needs a broken unit fixed or replaced in a day.

Between their excellent printers and projectors, and their outstanding customer support, I'm becoming an Epson fan quickly.

5My First Projector and I am impressed  Jul 23, 2011 By Kevn J. Hoegle
I bought this projector for my room which is very small. Extremely easy to use and the picture quality is remarkable for the price. I am utilizing my EX7200 mainly for movies and video games. I connected my PS3 and gaming is incredible. The only negative I have which really is of no concern to me is the audio on the unit is lousy. However, I was planning on hooking up a sound system directly from my PS3 anyways so it's no big deal. The key-stoning feature is very nice if you need to get the angle just right. I am using this projector with a screen I mounted to my wall, but it still produced amazing quality even just on my bare light blue walls. Very pleased so far. The unit is very quiet as well and light.

5presentation projector  Feb 13, 2011 By R. Martorelli "Becky"
After much research, I chose this particular projector for making power point presentations. It lives up to everything it claims to be: light weight, easy to set up, bright and accurate pictures.

This is a great projector for the money! It projects a sharp image, it's bright, it's compact, it's lightweight, and it's QUIET. Great technology in a small package. I highly recommend it!
